Vivametrica: Shifting Tides in Insurance and Wellness
2018 was a busy and productive year for Vivametrica.
We are grateful for the opportunities we have been given and as we continue to lead the field in health analytics, we are always revisiting our vision and goal of making people healthier. This past year has been instrumental in accelerating our growth and providing value to our customers. Here are just a few that we would like to highlight:
We are growing quickly and evolving leadership
In our initial stages, we were all wearing several different hats but as we’ve developed our strategy, we have transitioned our Founders into roles to keep up with the growing pace of our business. Dr. Christy Lane has transitioned, from Co-CEO to CEO, of Vivametrica while Dr. Rick Hu has moved into the role of Executive Chairman. We are very excited for Christy to take us to our next level of success and congratulate Rick on his foundational work at Vivametrica. As founders, Both Christy and Rick have been instrumental in building Vivametrica to where it is today.
We would also like to announce that we have grown our Development Team and hired people to lead the Marketing, Product and Development, and Sales areas of our business. As a result, we moved into a larger office. This allows our teams to be agile and focus on our brand vision and products to meet the needs of our customers and industries that need us the most. See more about our team here.
We made privacy and security a priority
We successfully completed our SOC 2 Type I Certification this year. Many companies wait until their B or C round of funding, sometimes even later, to complete this. However, strong privacy and security are fundamental to our values and vision for Vivametrica. We are proud to have this embedded in our culture, demonstrating our commitment to our customers.
We proved our value to the Insurance Industry
Our first underwriting product, vScore certified, has rewarded us 10+ pilot projects with major players in North America. Coupled with validated studies with the largest reinsurers in the world – including those with Munich Re and SCOR – we proved our scoring tools were critical for the industry. We anticipate vScore Certified will penetrate the life insurance underwriting industry in 2019 through multiple live implementations with carrier partners.
We are educators
There has been a significant shift in the acceptance of wearable devices and new sources of data in underwriting. As a result, we have become teachers, helping people and our industry learn about their health and wellness. As we change the market in underwriting, we continue to support our clients in Corporate Wellness, providing accurate and actionable health scoring tools. Here are just a few industry highlights that demonstrate our successes as innovators and educators:
- Our CEO, Dr. Lane received the 1st prize award for the Quesnay Female Founders of Insurtech contest – awarded at Insuretech Connect, the largest Insurtech event of the year.
- Vivametrica was selected as part of the first ever Creative Destruction Labs Rockies cohort, providing us with increased exposure to mentorship and investment.
- The North American Spine Society (NASS) awarded our founders, Drs. Lane, Hu, and Smuck with the 2018 Best Paper Award for their work on the diagnosis of musculoskeletal disease using wearable data. This award was based on work from the Stanford Wearable Health Lab, led by Drs. Lane and Smuck.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers, employees, partners, and supporters we’ve had along our journey to make people healthier. There is a lot of work ahead of us but we are excited for 2019 and the challenges ahead.
